There is a huge difference.

I’ve watched The Secret over and over and I know that they would claim that we are talking about the same thing. But no matter what they say I still feel that after all the books I have read and the movies I have watched, that in the end it is all a pipe dream. They want you to wish life better or different than it is. And if you fail, they have the perfect excuse. It is not their philosophy that failed – you just doubted. Took your eye off the ball. Or did not want it bad enough.

Bottom line it is they want to make success solely a mental exercise.

Well, I have no doubt that mental attitude makes a huge difference. But I have found in my life a significant difference between

1) hope it comes

2) make it come

Now, make it come cannot happen unless you hope it comes. Hope leads to faith, and faith is primarily a principle of power. Power leads us to action. Which leads us to the Law of the Harvest.

No man can harvest any gain from his field if efforts were not expended to gain the knowledge, find the seed, prepare the ground, water, weed and fertilize it regularly. Now, in the end I am dependent on a few factors that are out of my control, this is where hope comes in. Once I have done all in my power to ensure a successful harvest I still must rely on God to ensure that successful harvest will indeed occur. This does not mean that I am not with out some responsibility once I have even all that is mentioned. This is where the mental exercise comes in.

I honestly think that we live far below our ability. Why? I cannot saw. I do not even understand it in myself most of the time. I just find that it is far easier to coast, ramp up a little work, think that I have done all that I can, quit – see failure and then fee like I can blame it one someone else, because “I did all that I could”. Reality is we are much much stronger than we have previously imagined. And if we can tap into that strength of hope and resilliance. The stregth to forge on. The belief that we do deserve more. We will expend far more energy in accomplishing the said goal, and we will have not time to self sabatage our success because we fear greatness.

So what does that have to do with weightloss? Practically everything.

I have found that when I am at my most positive – and totally believe that I can lose the next 1/2 of my weight – then I am mentally prepared to offer in sacrifice all that is required that I might obtain the goal.
